Dosewallips State Park

Flowing River into Hood Canal

Dosewallips State Park is a lovely convergence of river, mountains and hood canal. A favorite place for collecting shellfish, this park straddles both sides of the highway so make sure you visit both sides to get the full effect.

On the west side of Highway 101, the campgrounds, the river and forested trails can be found. The Maple Valley Trail converges with the Steam Donkey trail which makes for a great 3.1 mile loop. The trail follows the river early on then ascends into forest resplendent with ferns.

After a good hike, check out the Geoduck Restaurant and Lounge just to the South off Highway 101. The views of Hood Canal from the deck are breathtaking. Here you’ll find great beers and ciders. The fried oyster sandwich is the bomb.
